Billionaires Bay - Cap d'Antibes

The "Billionaires' Bay", whose real name is Anse de l'Argent-Faux, is located at the foot of Villa Eilenroc, at Cap d'Antibes.

Initially only accessible by boat, it has been open to pedestrians since 2011 through a small path. In the heart of the Cap, it is integrated into a lush Mediterranean vegetation, and houses some magnificent villas hidden between the trees. An exceptional site, it is a place prized for its turquoise waters and its enclave providing security and privacy.

The poet Paul Arène described it as follows: "The most beautiful thing about Antibes is its incomparable cape where you find what? Everything; green myrtles to the shore, umbrella pines for naps, and jagged rocks, and creeks, and creeks so rich in fish that, on certain days, to see this swarming of scales, you would swear that the bottom of the sea is paved with silver."

The origin of its name

In good weather, the sea offers silver reflections at this place that could explain the origin of the Anse de l'Argent-Faux (fake money).

The name Bay of Billionaires on the other hand is more recent and comes from its high frequentation by prestigious yachts in all seasons, also, the bay remained for a long time inaccessible by land, so the only way to access it was by sea. It was therefore the privilege of yachtsmen on their yachts.

Indeed, the Cap d'Antibes is very popular in the region. This is due to the intimacy it provides with its small creeks and its wild and wooded aspect, far from the crowds of the French Riviera.

The Bay of Billionaires in History

The Grand Hotel du Cap Eden Roc is inseparable from the history of the Cape and the obtaining of its nickname by the Bay of Billionaires.

Indeed, from the 1920s, the hotel is frequented during the summer season by many personalities of the artistic or economic circles but also by the high society and European nobility during the winters. Eden Roc is synonymous with intimacy, prestige and history, and thus confers this same reputation to the whole of Cap d'Antibes.

From the sea, you can discover the different villas, each one more majestic than the other. If they are for the most part of Belle Époque style, some surprise by their contemporary style that stands out on the Cape.

An architectural identity on the Cap d'Antibes

The French Riviera was shaped during the Belle Époque, an era that bequeathed an extraordinary heritage as illustrated by the many architectural details of the buildings and palaces that line the Cap d'Antibes, of which Villa Eilenroc is the perfect example. These residences borrow elements from the Greco-Roman and classical styles.

Villa Virginia is a perfect example: this sumptuous 420 m² Belle Epoque property is ideally located on a 2450 m² plot of land a few steps from the sandy beaches and the Port de la Galice; it is distinguished by its soft lines, its balconies and its brightness.

Villa K, on the other hand, stands out for its contemporary architecture that differentiates it from its more classic neighbors. Designed by the Caprini & Pellerin architectural studio, it is located in a private domain, in absolute calm and without vis-à-vis, nestled in about 4,000 m2 of landscaped garden.

Between the two, one can also admire the Villa Guettière, a house with its feet in the water, which offers a more local and Provencal style imagined by the architect Luc Svetchine. Neighboring the small port of Olivette, this property is located on a magnificent flat plot of land of about 6,500 m², created by the famous landscape designer Jean Mus and overlooking the Mediterranean Sea.
