Villefranche sur mer

The area formed by Villefranche, Beaulieu-sur-Mer and Saint-Jean-Cap-Ferrat, commonly known as the Golden Triangle, enjoys a natural setting as idyllic as its location between Nice Côte d'Azur international airport and the exclusive Principality of Monaco.

It's one of the most prestigious locations on the French Riviera, renowned for its luxurious lifestyle, breathtaking sea views and varied architecture. If you're looking for a place to buy luxury real estate, Saint Jean Cap Ferrat and the surrounding area is one to consider.

Saint Jean Cap Ferrat, pearl of the Mediterranean

Saint-Jean-Cap-Ferrat, on the Côte d'Azur, embodies the art of luxurious living, with its panoramic sea views, varied architecture and elegant atmosphere. It's a prime location for the purchase of luxury real estate, offering sumptuous properties in idyllic surroundings.

It's a dream destination for those in search of the quintessential Mediterranean lifestyle. The peninsula, close to Nice and Villefranche sur Mer, is so tranquil and mild in winter that the world's aristocracy and wealthy have made it their preferred holiday destination.

Some of Cap Ferrat's estates have been home to numerous celebrities, including King Leopold II of Belgium, who owned countless properties there, Béatrice Ephrussi de Rothschild, Charlie Chaplin, Rainier III, Somerset Maugham, Jean Cocteau, Winston Churchill, Romy Schneider, art dealer Pierre Matisse, son of the famous painter Henri Matisse, and many others.

A selection of Cap Ferrat's most famous residences

The Grand Hôtel du Cap (1908), one of the world's finest palaces, set in 7 hectares of gardens planted with over 700 Mediterranean species.

The Villa Santo-Sospir, built in 1931 in a Mediterranean regionalist style, was bought by wealthy heiress Francine Weisweiller in the mid-20th century. In 1950, her friend, the poet and painter Jean Cocteau, painted the walls, ceilings and door leaves with graphics evoking Mediterranean themes and Greek mythology. The property has been listed as a historic monument since 2007.

Villa Ephrussi-de-Rothschild Museum and botanical park: in 1905, Baroness Béatrice de Rothschild, wife of billionaire Maurice Ephrussi, had a sumptuous, luxurious palace built on seven hectares of land, and brought together all the decorative elements, from the 15th to the 19th centuries, that were souvenirs of her travels. The Villa Île-de-France (or Villa Ephrussi de Rothschild), its gardens and art collections were bequeathed to the Académie des Beaux-Arts of the Institut de France in 1934.

Villa Nara Mondadori: Designed and built in 1968 by architect Oscar Niemeyer, this complex, ultra-luxurious modernist house is hidden among prestigious Belle Epoque mansions. Niemeyer (1907 - 2012) was one of Brazil's most famous architects, whose work was part of the International Style movement and played a major role in modern architecture. He is best known for the construction of Brasilia, Brazil. Saint-Jean Cap Ferrat, discreet and hidden, where everything is calm, luxury and pleasure.

Beaulieu sur Mer

Beaulieu-sur-Mer, also located on the Côte d'Azur, offers a luxurious lifestyle with breathtaking sea views, varied architecture, and luxury real estate opportunities. It's a prime location for buying high-end real estate, offering elegant properties in a spectacular coastal setting. Beaulieu-sur-Mer attracts a discerning clientele in search of refinement and a first-class Mediterranean experience.

Beaulieu-sur-Mer, ideally located 20 minutes from Nice and Monaco, and 10 km from Nice Côte d'Azur international airport, is a privileged Côte d'Azur location thanks to its palm-fringed beaches, superb sunshine, mild temperatures and lush, dense vegetation. In its heyday, this elegant winter resort with its exotic accents was already an invitation to daydream along its palatial lined streets, and welcomed many famous personalities who loved this prestigious world-class location: among them, Belgian King Leopold II, German Emperor Wilhelm II, the queens of Italy and Portugal, Theodore Reinach (archaeologist and initiator of the Villa Kérylos), Empress Sissi, Leo Tolstoy and Gustave Eiffel.

A veritable "Oasis of Dreams", Beaulieu-sur-Mer boasts a rich real estate heritage of sumptuous mansions and magnificent palaces with spectacular architecture: La Rotonde - A veritable architectural masterpiece of the Belle Epoque, once the dining room of the former Hotel Bristol. Capped by a light-flooded dome, this majestic circular edifice is now listed as a Monument Historique, and is offered by Maison Lenôtre for private events.

Le Bristol - A six-storey palace built in 1898 by Danish architect Hans-Georg Tersling, it has been welcoming world leaders such as Prince Louis Napoleon and the Duchess of Aosta since its opening on January 1, 1899. For many years, it was one of the Riviera's largest and most luxurious palaces, now converted into a condominium. La Villa Grecque Kérylos - Built by architect Emmanuel Pontremoli between 1902 and 1908 on a rocky promontory overlooking the Mediterranean, this unique heritage is a sumptuous, faithful reproduction of a luxurious villa in ancient Greece.

The beauty of the decorations in every room - mosaics, marble and frescoes - will take you back centuries, to the time of the Athenians and a certain art of living. Le Palais des Anglais - Built in 1885 under the name 'Hôtel des Anglais', one of the city's first hotels to welcome the European aristocracy who stayed on the Côte d'Azur during the winter season, today jointly owned. A breathtaking view, a privileged and exceptional sunny landscape, an azure-blue sea...

The beaches of Les Fourmis and Petite Afrique, the pine forest, the fine sand...

A magnificent port lined with famous restaurants, such as the African Queen...

Villefranche sur Mer

Villefranche-sur-Mer, a prestigious city on the Côte d'Azur, near Nice in the Alpes-Maritimes, is located on one of the world's most beautiful harbors, and is a favorite mooring place for the most prestigious cruise liners.

Villefranche-sur-Mer has preserved its historic character, with its fishermen's port, the colorful facades and stepped streets of its old town and its 16th-century citadel. This seaside resort, famous for its harbor that stretches between the Cap Ferrat peninsula and Mont Boron, is home to luxurious villas, grand hotels and a harbor that welcomes numerous yachts - making its bay one of the most famous on the Côte d'Azur.

Overlooked by hills and prestigious residences, it is currently one of the most sought-after locations on the Côte d'Azur. Numerous personalities from the worlds of art and show business have stayed in Villefranche sur Mer: Jean Cocteau, a native of the area, completed the paintings for the Chapelle des Pêcheurs, which he described as his life's work, and of which he spoke with great tenderness: "We thought it was an old tramp sleeping in the dust. On the contrary, it's a beautiful Romanesque (...) there's such calm, such solitude, such ignorance of current events, that I shut myself away in it like in a rocket, a spaceship fit to traverse the ages".

Many other artists succumbed to the charm of these enchanting surroundings. Villa Nellcôte, one of the most extraordinary residences on the peninsula, became a rock monument in the summer of 1971, when it was invaded by the Rolling Stones. Other rock legends who regularly set foot in the area include Sir Elton John, Bono - immortal leader of U2, and Tina Turner.

Villefranche-sur-Mer has also become a prime location for filming, with over 150 films and TV movies whose scenes are partly shot in Villefranche-sur-Mer; to name but a few: "Macao l'Enfer du Jeu" (1939) with Eric Von Stroheim and Mireille Balin, Alfred Hitchcock's "La Main au Collet", with Grace Kelly and Cary Grant (1955), "Il était une fois un flic" (1972) which reunited Michel Constantin and Mireille Darc , or "Jamais plus Jamais" (1983) which saw the return of Sean Connery in the role of James Bond.
