Press Le Figaro - Villa Bolovens, Saint Jeannet, Côte d'Azur

This charming villa listed by the Nice agency of Côte d'Azur Sotheby's International Realty (5 rue Longchamp, in the heart of the Carré d'Or) was sold in just a few weeks.

Its story has gone around the world, because it is here that the famous Grace Kelly offered a kiss to the no less beautiful Cary Grant in Hitchcock's "To Catch a Thief".

This luxurious bastide where a legendary Hitchcock film was shot was sold for more than 3 million euros to Californians - it is indeed here that Cary Grant and Grace Kelly exchanged a kiss in To Catch a Thief.

Located in Saint-Jeannet, on the heights of Nice, the bastide actually served as the setting, in 1954, for Hitchcock in this exceptional film mostly shot on the Côte d'Azur.

It was sold within a few weeks, at the asking price, to American buyers who were as passionate about cinema as they were about gardening: thus, the fantastic history of the Provençal house and its 5,000 square meter garden seduced them immediately.

The shooting of the film was not done inside the house, but it was reproduced identically, while the outdoor scenes were shot on site.

The luxurious property offered - and still does! - a fantastic environment, including an unobstructed view over the village of Saint-Jeannet to the sea.

Built in 1935, it offers a main house of more than 360 m², a guest house of 85 m², large terraces and a spacious swimming pool, all offering 12 rooms including 7 bedrooms.

It was Nicolas Benbassat, negotiator in charge of the sale of Bolavens at Côte d'Azur Sotheby's International Realty, specializing in luxury real estate, who concluded the sale of this bastide which testifies to the unfailing link that the Côte d'Azur maintains with the cinema.
