Contemporary Art takes center stage in our Nice office

Our Côte d’Azur Sotheby’s International Realty agency in Nice is delighted to host an iconic work of contemporary art: a Bonbon sculpture by internationally renowned artist Laurence Jenkell. This larger-than-life piece will be on display for several months at the heart of our space, adding a pop and poetic spark to our high-end real estate universe. We warmly invite you to step into our agency and experience it in person – an artistic encounter not to be missed!

Where design meets childhood memories

This Bonbon is not just a decorative flourish—it is the emotional imprint of an artist whose journey is as moving as it is remarkable. Like Proust’s madeleine, Laurence Jenkell—also known as JENK—drew upon childhood memories to create an artwork charged with deep emotional resonance.

Deprived of sweets as a child, she turned frustration into inspiration. Her medium of choice? Memory. Her technique? The twist.

Since the 1990s, Jenkell has developed her signature Wrapping technique, a sculptural process that gives form to time, memory, and emotion. The Bonbon, in her hands, becomes far more than a sweet—it is a universal symbol of innocence, intimacy, and personal resilience.

A radiant presence on the French Riviera

Now based in the South of France, Laurence Jenkell continues to energize the Riviera with her bold, colorful creations. From Monaco to Saint-Jean-Cap-Ferrat, her sculptures appear at prestigious venues and international events: the Rolex Monte-Carlo Masters, the Monaco Grand Prix, and the Monaco Classic Week to name a few.

In every context, her Bonbons take on new meaning—embodying the grace of sport, the thrill of speed, or the elegance of maritime heritage. These sculptures don’t merely occupy space—they speak to it, and to us.

Now on view in Nice: an experience to share

It is with this same spirit of artistic connection that we welcome one of Jenkell’s iconic sculptures to our Nice office. Visitors, clients, and colleagues are invited to discover this unique piece at the heart of our workspace—a symbol of the dialogue between art de vivre, contemporary aesthetics, and high-end real estate.

This initiative reflects our deep cultural roots on the Côte d’Azur, a region where heritage and modernity have long flourished side by side.

One of the most collected French artists in the world

Ranked among the top-selling French artists in the United States, represented in over 50 countries through public, private, and institutional collections, and named Chevalier de l’Ordre des Arts et des Lettres in 2019, Laurence Jenkell is undeniably a major figure in international contemporary art.

Her work, both accessible and emotionally charged, resonates across generations. It stirs, soothes, and awakens in each of us a bittersweet trace of childhood.

A natural bridge between fine art and fine real estate

At Côte d’Azur Sotheby’s International Realty, art is more than a passion—it is part of our identity. As the real estate arm of Sotheby’s, the world’s most prestigious auction house founded in 1744, we maintain a close and enduring connection with the art world: its creators, collectors, and connoisseurs.

Welcoming a sculpture by Laurence Jenkell into our space is a natural extension of this legacy—an invitation to celebrate emotion in all its forms, whether expressed through a canvas, a sculpture, or an extraordinary property.

Are you a collector, an art lover, or simply curious?

Our Private Desk offers discreet and expert guidance in acquiring rare works of art—such as Laurence Jenkell’s—just as we do with exceptional real estate.

And you—what’s your sweetest Bonbon memory?

A soft caramel from a grandparent, a strawberry candy shared with a friend, a hard-boiled sweet at a summer fair?

JENK’s Bonbon invites you to rediscover that forgotten delight.
