Nice: a green and sustainable metamorphosis - Investing in the future

Nice, the capital of the French Riviera, is undergoing a remarkable transformation with its bold and sustainable vision for the future. At the Cannes MIPIM, Mayor Christian Estrosi unveiled an ambitious plan to turn Nice into a garden city, blending quality of life, climate resilience, and economic dynamism.

Nice: a green and sustainable metamorphosis - Investing in the future

Vision of a garden city:

Since 2008, Nice has taken a proactive approach to climate change, choosing to invest in sustainable solutions rather than passively endure its consequences. The results are tangible and impressive:

- Ambitious trajectory for reducing greenhouse gas emissions.
- Significant improvement in air quality.
- Creation of extensive green spaces and promotion of urban biodiversity.

Côte d'Azur Sotheby's International Realty, a major player in Nice's real estate sector, welcomes this initiative, which not only enhances the city's beauty but also strengthens its appeal to residents and investors.

The Plaine du Var: symbiosis between economy and ecology:

The transformation of the Plaine du Var epitomizes the symbiosis between economy and ecology. The reclamation of land, creation of green spaces, and promotion of biodiversity reflect Nice's commitment to becoming a leader in sustainable development. Mayor Estrosi highlighted the remarkable evolution of this area, once marked by clandestine warehouses, pollution, and even a shantytown, into a model of harmony between economic development and ecological preservation.

Firm commitment to environmental preservation:

Since the launch of this initiative in 2019, in line with the national biodiversity plan for 2030, Nice has embarked on a radical transformation. Unplanned urbanization has been halted, vast agricultural and natural areas protected, and significant reductions made in building rights. With only 2% of the 10,000 hectares of the national interest zone earmarked for development programs, Nice's unwavering commitment to environmental preservation is evident. Sixty-seven hectares of wasteland will be restored to nature by 2030, providing a new habitat for biodiversity.

Mobilization of public and private funds:

The announcement of a dedicated subsidiary to mobilize public and private funds for the restoration of local ecosystems is a significant step towards realizing this vision. By the end of 2025, 5.5 hectares of the Plaine du Var will be transformed into a large landscaped park, with the planting of 140,000 trees. The flagship project of the metropolis, the Exposition and Congress Park, exemplifies this soil reclamation initiative. By transforming obsolete areas into green spaces, Nice demonstrates its leadership in ecological transition.

Nice: leading the ecological transition:

The Nice Côte d'Azur Metropolis is firmly committed to the future of the next generations, embodying the values of progress and environmental responsibility. Through these innovative initiatives, Nice reaffirms its status as a preferred destination for those aspiring to a balanced and sustainable lifestyle.

Nice: a model of excellence:

Nice now stands as a model of excellence, both in innovation and quality of life. Ranked at the top of cities with over 300,000 inhabitants for quality of life in France, and second among major metropolitan areas for economic vitality, Nice is paving the way for a greener and more sustainable future for all.

Investing in real estate in Nice:

Côte d'Azur Sotheby's International Realty is delighted to witness this historic transformation and is committed to assisting its clients in discovering the real estate gems that Nice has to offer, in a setting that combines elegance, comfort, and environmental stewardship.
