Celebrity real estate : Anne Hathaway sells her New York penthouse with the Sotheby's International Realty network

Anne Hathaway, the Oscar-winning actress, has decided to part with her magnificent penthouse located just a stone's throw from Central Park. The elegantly renovated property occupies the fifth floor of a neo-Georgian mansion on Manhattan's Upper West Side and is currently on sale for $3,495,000.

Hathaway and her partner, Adam Shulman, had purchased the property in 2016 for $2,550,000 and have metamorphosed it over the years, infusing it with their own unique taste and style. The neo-Georgian mansion at 18 West 74th Street offers a timeless experience. Dating from 1904, this five-storey building is one of the last private mansions built on the Upper West Side.

Today, it has been transformed into a five-unit condominium. The fifth-floor penthouse is accessed by a private keyed elevator, leading to an elegant gallery that opens onto the open-concept living spaces. The family room/dining room and kitchen boast 18-foot ceilings and herringbone oak floors. The kitchen, bathed in natural light thanks to a skylight, is adjacent to the entrance gallery. Custom cabinetry spans an entire wall, offering generous storage space while concealing built-in appliances. Designer light fixtures and open shelving contribute to the kitchen's modern look. The kitchen displays a minimalist style with cleverly concealed cabinetry and Lumix quartzite countertops. Miele appliances, including a 30-inch electric range, are perfect for entertaining guests.

The dining room and living room open onto an adjacent rooftop terrace. This partially covered oasis offers additional space for dining, as well as an outdoor kitchen and lounge area for entertaining guests. On the other side of the dining room is the living room, featuring an ethanol fireplace. Eighteen-foot ceilings create a dramatic sense of space, while large French doors open onto a rooftop patio.

The south-facing terrace includes a dining area for up to eight people, as well as several places to lounge. Integrated lighting, an audio system and an irrigation system were also installed during a recent renovation. A spacious master suite awaits in the home's private wing, with a large bathroom featuring a freestanding bathtub. The second bedroom also includes a full bathroom clad in Aurora Blue marble.

A private storage area is also included with the property. A pergola covers the outdoor dining area, while fencing and shrubbery provide privacy while still allowing you to enjoy the sunshine.

Anne Hathaway joins the long list of celebrities who trust the Sotheby's International Realty network for their real estate projects, such as Elton John in Atlanta or the Golden Ball winner Lionel Messi in Miami.

The penthouse at 18 West 74th Street, Apt Ph, is currently on sale for $3,495,000 by Jeremy Stein of Sotheby's International Realty, Downtown Manhattan Brokerage. If you're looking for an elegant residence in one of New York's most sought-after neighborhoods, don't miss this unique opportunity, and like Anne Hathaway, put your trust in the world's leading luxury real estate network, Sotheby's International Realty.
