Château de Montfort also called
Former fortress of the thirteenth century listed in the Supplementary Inventory of Historical Monuments since 1923, the Château Montfort - a masterpiece of architecture - knows over the centuries renowned owners belonging to the French bourgeoisie and nobility, as well as prominent guests, such as François 1er - King of France, or Pope Paul III.

From 1501, sumptuous works are implemented by an architect and sculptors from Genoa , marking the beginning of the presence of the property, and in 1520, the Castle officially becomes "Relais de Chasse du Territoire de Gaudelet".

The domain then takes the form it keeps until the beginning of the twentieth century.Lieutenant of the French Armies, Duke, Sire, Marquis acquire the Castle over the centuries, until 1882, when Mr. Marcelin Mouton, one of the first merchants of edible in Nice, buys the estate. In love with the Castle, he writes articles on the subject published in the Annals of Arts and Letters of the Alpes-Maritimes, and also makes a superb picture of Montfort.

In 1906, it is Lietta Thomas, Maitre d'Hotel in Nice, who buys the estate: he even publishes postcards of the property to correspond with his friends, and it is his son who registers the Castle to Historical monuments.

In 1995, the clockmaker Séverin Wunderman bought the château: owner of the Corum watch company and inventor of the Bubble watch, he is also a fervent admirer and collector of Jean Cocteau's works, which he undertook to exhibit within the 12 bedrooms of Montfort. Moreover, for the record, it is Jean Cocteau himself who designed the pool area.
